Wildlife Institute of India Dehradun

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a government institution run by the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education which trains wildlife managers and wildlife researchers. Trained personnel from WII have contributed in studying and protecting wildlife in India. WII has also popularized wildlife studies and careers.

The Wildlife Institute of India is based in Dehradun, Uttarakhand India. It is located in Chandrabani, which is close to the southern forests of Dehradun.

The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education also runs the Forest Research Institute and the Indian Institute of Forest Management.

Course offered: Post Graduate Degree in Wildlife Science

Eligibility: Candidates desirous of joining this course should have completed 15 years of formal education and should have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate in Bachelor of Science degree with a biology major. Degrees in veterinary science, forestry , agriculture and environmental sciences are also acceptable. Professional foresters, not more than 35 years of age, with suitable biological background and aptitude for wildlife research may also join the course on an in-service basis.
