The School

GD Birla Memorial School for Boys is an English-medium residential school situated in the lush green hills of Ranikhet in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. It is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSC). The school, comprising classes IV to XII, is a member of the prestigious Indian Public Schools' Conference and the Round Square International.

The school has been founded by Mr. B.K. Birla and Dr. (Mrs.) Sarala Birla to immortalise the ideals of Late G. D. Birla, a doyen of Indian industry. Founded on July 8, 1987 G.D. Birla Memorial School for Boys was formally inaugurated on August 15, 1987.

Blending Indian cultural values with modern education techniques, the school aims at providing a happy, stimulating and demanding environment where students spend the most important years of their lives.

Academic study is important and our students are expected to achieve high standards. They are encouraged to participate in all school activities for all-round development of mind, body and soul.

Academic Curriculum

English (Compulsory language for all classes), Hindi (Second language for classes IV to VIII), Sanskrit (Third language for classes V to VIII), Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics Accountancy, Business Studies, Computer Science, Information Practices Physical Education, that subjects are taught in the curriculum. Mandarin and French have been introduced as additional languages.

Senior secondary students have the option of selecting either Science stream or Commerce stream.

Admission Process of GD Birla Memorial School for Boys

Every candidate must register with the school before appearing for the admission test in English and Mathematics. Prospectus-cum-Registration form for admission is available at the school office and the administrative office in Kolkata.

Students of classes X and XII return in January for a Winter Study Camp. New academic year for other students begins in the first week of March.
