From weather to prices of commodities on the national exchange, agri-portals can tell them all.
Welcome to the new high-tech kiosks where farmers can now seek answer to their queries. For the convenience of farmers agri-portals or `kisan soochna kendras’ are being installed across the State in a phased manner, top officials said.
IFFCO, in association with the Uttaranchal State Cooperative Marketing Federation has decided to set up nearly 100 portals in the State.
Each portal costs Rs 1.30 lakh, the expenditure for which would mostly be borne by IFFCO itself. These portals would be set up in the districts of Nainital, Udhamsingh Nagar, Haridwar and Dehra Dun, said Promod Kumar Singh, chairman of the Uttaranchal Cooperative Marketing Federation.
Commodities
Through these agri-portals, farmers would be able to get latest information regarding weather, crops, manure and prices of commodities.
These portals would also comprise display boards of the National Commodity Directive Exchange (NCDEX) and provide facility for future trading for various commodities.
