Wipro Infotech, the India and Middle East IT business of Wipro, has unveiled its second manufacturing unit at Kotdwar in Uttarakhand. Spread over 5.8 acres of land at the foothills of the Himalayas, the plant will manufacture servers, storage, notebooks, desktops and allied IT electronics.
The plant has a manufacturing capacity of approximately 1000 machines a day. The company however did not disclose the investment in this project. According to the company, due to its proximity to the northern parts of India, the unit will cater to customers in northern parts of the country.
Anand Sankaran, chief executive, Wipro Infotech said, “The addition of the second facility is another expression of our commitment towards Wipro’s computing business which has shown robust growth over the years. As the subcontinent reaps the benefit of being one of the fastest growing economies we felt the need to equip ourselves with enhanced manufacturing and delivery capabilities.”
The new unit is a Green facility which will manufacture 100 per cent Restriction of Hazardous Substances (ROHS) compliant products.

uttaranchal will be one of the most developed states in india and i have been to sigaddi growth centre one of the most advanced industrial estates thanks sidcul & khanduriji, only problem were three bridges on river malini which have been completed in record time,no doubt this will be a hapenning place with wipro, reliance pharma, sunbeam pharma, analouge tech,simpex pharma and…… regarding jobs for local youths, yes they must get preference, not at the expense of competition, we must allow talent to come in uttaranchal and at the same time train our youths to undertake these jobs, need of the hour is more engineering colleges, more iti etc…..
Ireqest to all social orgnation do not demand for local people job in any private and goverment sector .it should depend only ability .because we have latest example of hmt ranibagh .
what is the scope for uttarakhand techies?
when it be ready for production?

Hi, Its really good to see that companies are now finding our state as profit potential for them and thanks to our state politians atleast now they are putting their efforts for the betterment of state. But betterment depends on wipro’s attitude towards uttrakhandis . It would be wrong to say that our people are not potential or educated enough to work. Lot of people are working outside uttrakhand for years and are financially well settled that clearly shows their ability to work in good organisation in various sectors. I would really appreciate that all low level jobs must go to uttrakhnadis 100 % because that donot require any technical insight ,by doing this wipro would be fair to locals and would establish faith among locals . Talking about technical jobs and managerial jobs give opportunity and priority to uttrakhandi based on their potential . I firmly believe Wipro will find lot of uttrakhandi tech and mngmnt experts who will certainly contribute to the company’s growth and profit structure .

What Uttarakhand government is doing for industrial developemnt in Uttarakhand.
If governemnt can not do anything then I think we would be in better condition when were the part of Uttara Predesh !!
Most of Uttarakhand’s development was done by Mr. N. D. Tiwari (his views were excellient).
We want the leader like Mr. N. D. Tiwari who can develop our Uttarakhand and stop migration problem of this hilly state..
