Four most holy pilgrimages of India, nestling in the lofty peaks of Garhwal Himalayas, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, are known as the Char Dham of Hindus.
According to belief of ancient people, Goddess Ganga took the form of a river to support life on earth and hence is the most venerated deity in Hinduism. The holy water of Ganga flows to the four dhams in four streams – Yamuna (in Yamunotri), Bhagirathi (in Gangotri), Mandakini (in Kedarnath), and Alaknanda (in Badrinath). The scenic beauty and spiritual serenity make these char dham make an ideal abode for the Gods and a reward for pilgrims coming from far countries on the Char Dham Yatra.
