Cong seeks report from state unit to decide bypoll nominee

The Congress high command has sought a report from the party’s state leadership to decide its candidate for the October 10 Tehri Lok Sabha bypoll.

“PCC chief Yashpal Arya and CLP leader Vijay Bahuguna have been asked to send their recommendations to the party’s central leadership,” AICC General Secretary in charge of Uttarakhand, Chaudhry Virendra Singh told reporters here today.

On that basis, the high command will take a call on whom to field from the seat.

The BJP has already announced Maharani Mala Rajlakshmi, the daughter-in-law of the erstwhile royal family of Tehri as its nominee from the constituency.
