Block Education Officer (BEO) Damyanti Rawat, who was appointed director of Uttarakhand Seed Certification Agency (USCA) by the State Government but was not issued NOC by Education department, has not assumed the post of deputy director (DD), State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT), Narendranagar, New Tehri to which she was transferred a week ago. Rawat was seen working at USCA office in Dehradun but did not meet visitors.
Uttarakhand Education Minister Mantri Prasad Naithani said that the department will take action against Rawat if she does not assume office at SCERT within time limit. When this reporter visited USCA office to interview Rawat about her priorities, the peon said that she had ordered him to prevent anyone from entering her office. Other department officials said that she would chair a board meeting on Wednesday. Uttarakhand School Education director CS Gwal refused to comment on this issue.
Observers opined that if education department does not issue NOC to Rawat, she would automatically revert to the parent department. If she fails to assume her post the Education department may issue notice to Rawat. Another probability is that she might move the Court against the department for not issuing NOC.
