Nishank said his government is committed to make the hill state polythene-free and it would not hesitate to bring in a legislation if it becomes necessary.

The chief minister also sought cooperation from common people for making the state polythene-free stating that no social issue can be addressed without the active participation of society.

He also stressed the need for control on all kinds of pollutants in the state.

As uttarakhand is a holy as well as a tourist place therefore it is a very necessary decision. This is really a commendable step taken by Shri Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank to save our homeland. But it would not be successful enough unless we all do not stand up together to protect our homeland. We should take it as our duty to protect the nature.I would like to request our C.M. via this column to kindly take some immediate step to improve the traffic system in uttarakhand to reduce the frequency of accidents occurring.Every year many tourist(including Indian as well as foreigners)visit here but this is really very disheartening to see the way they are misguided.I know its really very complicated to eradicate these problems but it is possible to reduce them up to some extent.
