Uttarakhand to toughen laws for land purchase

Uttarakhand government would amend the land reforms act 2003 to toughen laws for land purchase in the state.
The Cabinet on Thursday took the decision which will deny a person to buy land more than 250 square meter for residential purpose without the prior permission of the government. Earlier, this limit was 500 square meter.
The Cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister B C Khanduri, approved the amended draft and a new ordinance would soon be brought in this regard, Chief Secretary S K Das told reporters here.
The Cabinet also decided to bar the government enterprises, including Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam and Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam, from selling liquor in the state.
