Hemkund pilgrimage has been resumed after the restoration work of the connecting bridge was completed today.
The pilgrimage to the famous Sikh shrine of Hemkund Sahib has come to a halt following a breakage in a hanging bridge that falls on the route to the shrine, official sources said on Monday.

The decision to halt the pilgrimage has been taken as a precautionary measure to avert any possible eventuality, they said.
A team of the Public Works Department has already reached the spot to repair the bridge that connects Govinghat with the shrine and the pilgrimage would be resumed soon, they said.
Every year lakhs of pilgrims, particularly from Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, visit the Hemkund shrine, located in the Garhwal Himalayas.
