This massive mountain in the Garhwal Himalayas is perched at an altitude of 6,727 metres. The meandering Dhauliganga River flows near Hathi Parbat, making the place irresistible for the nature worshippers. Kakbhusandi Tal & Guari Parvat lies in the vicinity of Hanthi Parbat. Legend related to Hathi Parvat

The two huge rocks slated on the Hathi Parvat are often described as crow (Kakabhushundi) and an eagle (Garuda). It is believed that the crow is vigorously conversing with an eagle on the affairs of the universe as it’s described in Ramayana. Another legend states that a leaned Brahmin of Ayodhya once incurred his wrath on Sage Lomasa who lived here and was changed into a crow by the sage.

How to approach Hanthi Parvat

The Elephant Peak of Hanthi Parvat towering over Loniakhal Dhar in Garhwal can be reached from Vishnuprayag or Ghangaria, near Valley of Flowers. Alternatively, there is another route from Ghangaria which is easy but a little longer. From Govindghat, there is an 18 km bridled path which runs through the Bhyundar Valley and Bhyundar Village up to Ghangariya.
