This temple is dedicated to Shankar's consort - Sati and one can reach there through 2 km easy trek. The trek to Surkanda Devi goes through dense forest rich in varied flora and fauna. The trek affords a majestic and unforgettable view of the panoramic snow-clad peaks of the splendid Himalayan range. Legend has it that the head of the charred body of Goddess Sati fell here when Lord Shiva was taking her remains along with him. Surkhanda Devi Temple has gained significant importance amongst the locals and is frequented by devotees all year-round.
