The pristine lake is perched at an elevation of 4,200 metres above sea level. This trek is an arduous one, so one needs to prepare himself before heading on it. Himalayan flowers and surreal landscape border this small lake.
One can have a glorious view of the snow-clad Himalayan peaks from the lakeside. The greenery around Kanchani Tal makes it one of the best camper’s bays.
Perched at an elevation of 4,200 meters, Kanchani Tal is located 16 kms from Madmaheswar temple and can be reached via trekking. The trek to Kanchani Tal commences from Kanchani Khal located behind the temple. The trek takes approximately 8 hours or more to reach at the lake.
It is advisable to camp near the lake overnight and return to Madmaheshwar the next day. Please do keep in mind, the trek is quite difficult and needs prior preparation and is recommended for experienced trekkers. Madmaheshwar temple is about 16km farm from road and can be commence only by trekking.
