Mandal River originates within the eastern heights of Talla Salan in Chamoli district and is an important tributary of Ramganga River. An important breeding place of Mahaseer fish, Mandal River cascades down the mountainous region of Uttarakhand for 32 kilometers before joining Ramganga.
The river meanders through the dense forests of Corbett National Park. The water level of the river in summer doesn‘t amount much during summer, however, the river’s water level rises exponentially during the monsoons.
Angling is a popular recreational activity that allows tourists to catch fishes on the banks of Mandal River. Apart from wildlife photography and walking amidst the forest, tourists can also enjoy catching Mahaseer fishes which are also known as the Water Tiger. Another way to unwind is to camp beside the river with your family and friends. One has to take prior permissions from Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) for angling and fishing.
