Gabbar Singh Negi Memorial: Thakur Gabbar Singh joined the Garhwal Rifles as a Rifleman in 1913. Gabbar Singh and his battalion sealed their victory at Flanders in Germany during World War I. Gabbar Singh was awarded the highest gallantry award of England, the Victoria Cross, posthumously. In 1925, a memorial was established in Chamba in his honour. Every year on April 21 the Garhwal Regiment pays homage to this courageous soldier.
