Sattal ExcursionsJim Corbett National Park: Itis situated in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand state and is alsoIndia's oldest national park being established in 1936. The park wasnamed after hunter turned conservationist Jim Corbett. Jim Corbett Nationalpark is situated 84kms from Sattal. The park contains 488 differentspecies of plants and wide variety of wild life including elephant,tiger, chital, Sambar Deer, nilgai, gharial, King Cobra, muntjac, wildboar, hedgehog, common musk shrew, flying fox, Indian Pangolin, andaround 600 species of birds. Jim Corbett National Park covers an areaof 521 square kilometers. Mukteshwar: It is situated at a distance of 38kms from Sattal set at an elevationof 2,285mts above sea level. Mukteshwar got its name from a 350yearold temple Mukteshwer Dham whose presiding deity is great Lord Shiva.The top of the mountain on which Mukteshwar Dham is stood offers stupendousviews of Himalayan range. Mukteshwar was developed by the Britishersas research and education institute (IVRI) in 1893. Naukuchia Tal: The name literallysuggests Nine-Cornered Lake. It is situated 22kms from Sattal. NaukuchiaTal is set at an altitude of 1,220mts above sea level. The lake is around1 km in length, 0.6 km in width and approximately 40m in depth. It isthe deepest of the lakes in the greater Naintal area. According to myth,if one takes a glimpse of all nine corners at once, one can disappearin a cloud of smoke. Naukuchia Tal is within an enchanting valley providingample scope for rowing, paddling and yatching. Naukuchia Tal is alsofamous for angling and bird watching. Ranikhet: Ranikhet is a hillstation in Almora District of Uttarakhand state. Ranikhet is also thehome for Kumaon regiment and Naga regiment of Indian Army. Ranikhetoffers invigorating views of the snow capped peaks of the prodigiousHimalayan range. Ranikhet literally means “Queens Meadow or Queens’sfield”. Ranikhet hosts a vast bio-diversity of flora and fauna. Ranikhetis situated 38kms from Sattal at an altitude of 1,869mts above sea level. Nainital: It is situated at a distanceof 26kms from Sattal at an elevation of 1,938mts above sea level. Nainitalis named after an eye shaped lake set amidst the mountains with thickalpine trees. Nainital is given the epithet of “Lake District” becauseit dotted with five lakes Nainital, Bhimtal, Naukuchiatal, Khurpatal,Sattal. Nainital is a glistening pearl of the panoramic Himalayan Rangeblessed with spectacular natural splendors and varied flora and fauna.The perimeter of Nainital is approximately 3.5kms.
