Adi Shankaracharya was a philosopher and theologian who is credited with unifying and establishing the main currents of thought in Hinduism. At the age of 32, he decided to attain moksha (freedom from body) at Kedarnath and merged under the land near Kedarnath temple. Hence this place called as Shankaracharya Samadhi place.
How to Reach Shankaracharya Samadhi
This place is situated just behind the Kedarnath temple. Visitors can board regular buses from Rishikesh and Kotdwar to Kedarnath. The nearest railhead is at Rishikesh, 221 km away from the Kedarnath.
