Nanakmatta: Nanakmatta was previously known as Gorakhmatta. Its name was changed to Nanakmatta when Guru Nanak Dev visited this place in the 16th century. Nanakmatta was previously the abode of yogis who were devotees of Guru Gorakhnath. It is situated 40kms from Tanakpur. Thousands of pilgrims come to Nanakmatta Gurudwara throughout the year. The town is also known for the huge Nanak Matta Dam built across river Saryu.

Khatima: Khatima is situated in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand state. Khatima is well connected by major transportation facilities with popular destinations of northern India. Khatima houses a hydel powerhouse at Lohiahead on river Sharda with a capacity of 41.4 MW. The climate of Khatima is equivalent to the city in plains. It’s hot and humid in summers and cold during winters. Khatima comes under the ‘terai’ region of the Himalayas. Khatima was previously known as Tharwat which means home of the Tharu tribe. Khatima is situated 23kms from Tanakpur.

Champawat: The place is rich in varied flora and fauna and also an ideal spot for bird watching. Champawat is surrounded by Nepal on the east and is covered by four districts of Kumaon region. Champawat is situated 75kms from Tanakpur at an elevation of 1615mts above sea level.

Lohaghat: Lohaghat is a popular destination in the Kumaon region situated 73kms from Tanakpur at an elevation of 1745mts above sea level. Lohaghat holds great historical and mythological importance and it is situated on the banks of Lohawati River. During summers the area is covered with ‘Burans’ Rhododendron, the state flower of Uttarakhand.

Meetha Reetha Sahib: Reetha Sahib is an important Sikh pilgrim centre. The Gurudwara is situated at the confluence of Lodhiya and Ratiya rivers, near village Deyuri. There are trees of Reetha (Sapindus emarginatus) in the Gurudwara premises, have become sweet due to the miraculous touch of the Guru. Reetha is served as prasad in Reetha Sahib Gurudwara.

Abbott Mount: Situated at an elevation of 2018mts Abbott Mount offers a peaceful and picturesque environment. Abbott Mount remains covered with the sheets of snow during winters. The enchanting snow clad Himalayan peaks can be seen from Abbott Mount. It is located away from hustle bustle of the city and there are only 13 secluded cottages spread over this hill. Abbott Mount is situated in 82kms from Tanakpur offering tranquility with exquisiteness.

Pithoragarh: It is surrounded by Nepal to the east and Tibet to the north. The place is popular for its exquisite natural beauty and is widely known as the “Little Kashmir.” Pithoragarh lie at a height of 1650mts above sea level offering picturesque views.
