Districts in Uttarakhand

Uttaranchal comprises of 13 districts (7 in Garhwal region and 6 in Kumaon).

Formation of four new districts was announced by the then CM of Uttarakhand Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” on 15 Aug 2011. These four new districts would be Kotdwar, Yamunotri, Didihat and Ranikhet.

Yamunotri: will be carved from Uttarkashi
Kotdwar: will be carved from Pauri
Didihat: will be carved from Pithoragarh
Ranikhet: will be carved from Almora
