About 800 kms from Delhi at an altitude of 3600 mtrs, Kalapani lies enroute Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra. Kalapani is the origin of river Kali. The river is named after the Kali Temple situated in Kalapani. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali & Lord Shiva. It is built besides the heavy mountain rocks. Vyas Gufa (cave) is visible from the temple. It is believed that Bhagvan Vyas stayed here. The cave at present is unapproachable & requires rockclimbing equipments. According to hindu puranas there are eight Om Parvat in himalaya & at the moment world knows only one. Also visible from Kali temple a mountain resembling with the shape of cobra, known as Nag devta. According to the beliefs, when Nag Devta is visible, Om parvat is also clearly visible at Nabhidhang; When Nag devta is under clouds, Om Parvat would also be in clouds.

Delhi -> Kathgodam (Haldwani) -> Bhuwali, Almora, Someshwar -> Kausani -> Bageshwar -> Chaukori -> Didihat -> Ogla -> Askot -> Dharchula -> Tawaghat -> Pangu -> Narayan Ashram -> Sirkha -> Gala -> Malpa -> Budhi -> Garbyang -> Gunji -> Kalapani -> Nabhidang -> Lipulekh Pass -> Taklakot -> Gurla Pass -> Zaidi -> Parkha -> Tarchen -> Mt. Kailash

The distance between Delhi to Tawaghat is about 640 kms covered by Bus. The route ahead is to be covered on foot or on pony or yaks. The joy of trekking can be experienced all the way to Kalapani and further till you reach Mansarovar Lake and holy Mt. Kailash. Lipulekh Pass is the last point in Indian Territory and rest of the route lies in Tibet region of China.
