Homkund Lake situated in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand is a high attitude lake situated at 15,200 feet above sea level on the right base of Nanda Ghunti Peak. The pristine lake is surrounded by majestic snow-clad peaks like Trishul and Nanda Ghunti.
The Homkund Lake is the final leg of the Nanda Devi Raaj Jat Yatra. It is believed that Aradhya Devi Nanda’s palanquin was kept here. Homkund is a popular trekking destination and those who trek to Roopkund consider this as a must visit trekking destination as Homkund is located near Roopkund. The hikers can also savour the enchanting view of Nanda Devi Peak.
How to Reach:
Lohajung is base camp for Homkund lake which is approx. 220km(6-7 hours) away from nearest rail-head Kathgodam, situated in Uttarakhand. From Lohajung trek to Homkund lake starts. Lohajung-Didina-Bedni Bugyal-Bhagwabhasa-Shila Samunder via Roopkund & Junar Gali-Do Dang via Gheetapan- Hom Kund
