Situated in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, Kuchela Dhura is a peak located at the right bank of Lwa Glacier or left bank of Shalang glacier. This peak is surrounded by Nanda Kot. It lies in the Nanda Devi group of mountains.
In 2012, Indian Mountaineering Federation sent a team of 8 members to summit Kuchela Dhura. The team ascended via west ridge but failed to summit the peak, just short of 500m.
IMF again sent an expedition in August-September 2013 in hopes of reaching the summit this time around. The team comprised of 10 members. Four of the 10 members, namely Dhruv Joshi, Wallambok Lyngdoh, Chitramohan and Vijay Rautela successfully scaled the mountain on 6 September, 2013 and made the first international and national ascent of the Kuchela Dhura peak.
