Shivalaya Temple (Bagwan)

Shivalaya is an ancient Hindu temple located on a tiny hamlet called Bagwan. This place is situated on a favourable distance of 88 Km from  RishikeshBadrinath motorable road. This sacred Shiva temple houses a garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) and a booth. Many devotees visit this temple to pay obeisance to the Shiva Linga, which is enshrined in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.

Shivalaya Temple Architecture in Bagwan

The Shivalaya temple showcases traditional architecture. The idols of Surya or the Sun God are carved on the walls of the temple. The roof of the temple is made out of granite stones. A Chandrika and Amalsarika are adorned in the apex of the temple. The ruins of Amalsarikao, columns and Gajsingh have been found in the premises of the temple, which is believed to be of the cluster of 12-13 century temples.

Shivalaya temple is located on a favourable distance of 88 Km form Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway. It is situated in a small town called Bagwan. The temple is easily approachable as Rishikesh is well linked by motorable roads. State-owned buses and private buses operate from ISBT Kashmiri Gate, New Delhi. Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport to Rishikesh. Taxis and buses are easily available from this airport to Rishikesh.
