Sukha Tal cocooned in Mallital was earlier a part of the pristine Nainital Lake. Sukha Tal or Suka Tal literally suggests dry lake which is located half a km from the picturesque lake of Nainital. It is a freshwater lake having a length of 150 metres and 10 metres deep. The lake is surrounded by dense pine and oak forests. These verdant forests are the home to a number of migratory birds who visit this place from all over the globe.
Khudariya Tal was its traditional name:
This lake was earlier known as Khudariya Tal and was renamed as Sukha Tal because the entire water from this lake was drained in the extreme region of the Nainital Lake.
How to Reach:
Sukhatal can be easily approachable as it is located at a distance of 41 km from Kathgodam and 1 km uphill from the Mall Road. The lake is situated at a favourable distance of 1 km from St. John Church and 2 km from Raj Bhavan in Nainital.
