New Delhi, October 28, 2004 – In order to showcase, promote and market the diverse organic products, natural fiber products, handloom, handicrafts and eco-tourism destinations of Uttaranchal, the Uttaranchal Organic Commodity Board under the aegis of the Government of Uttaranchal will organise a 15-day event- The Spirit of Uttaranchal- at Dilli Haat from November 1-15, 2004.

"Spirit of Uttaranchal" event aims to showcase, promote and market organic products, natural fiber products, handloom, handicrafts and eco-tourism destinations of Uttaranchal.

Apart from showcasing the products, various cultural programmes are also being organized along with a food court to serve Uttaranchali cuisine.

The Spirit of Uttaranchal aims to create awareness about the efforts of the State towards organic farming (organic food), eco-tourism destinations, handicrafts, handloom and natural fiber products and introduce the people of Delhi to the unique features that mark the spirit of this mountain state. Voluntary organizations, Self Help Groups (SHGs), farmers, and government bodies are participating in this event.

Various other performances from the artists coming from Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Pithoragarh, Delhi, etc. will also be organised during the 15 day event. The list includes Traditional Hudkiyan Song by Smt. Kabutari Devi, Pithoragarh on the 11th of November, Pandu Chakravyuh by Dr. D.R.Purohit of Garhwal on the 13th of November, etc.
