Uttarakhand Public Work Department PWD or Lok Nirman Vibhag of Uttarakhand is the premier Engineering Department of Uttarakhand government which is responsible for all the construction related work like maintenance and planning of roads, bridges and Govt. Buildings.
Functions of Public Works Department (PWD) Uttarakhand
- Public work department is solely responsible for the constructions and planning of roads, bridges and govt. building.
- It works according to various rule, acts and manual laid down by the state govt. Most of the work are taken up through contracting.
- Contractors can register there self in PWD where they are classified in various classes like "A", "B", "C" and "D". It depends on the value of work put to bid in the bidding process for a class of contractor.
- PWD also work on large road infrastructure projects using the National Competitive Bidding procedures.
- For accounting, it follows the rules set by Finance Department of the state.
