The trek starts from the very famous Solang valley, and the trails coil through quaint little hamlets, alpine meadows, and beautiful dense forests of oak and pine. 

Patalsu Peak is located near Manali of Kullu District in Himachal Pradesh. The Patalsu Peak trek starts from Solang Nallah, and initially you will crossing some beautiful apple orchards on the way, followed by lush green meadows if you are trekking in summers or covered with snow if you are planning for winter trek of Patalsu Peak. Depending on the season you hike through snow and you get wonderful view of the entire Solang Valley and surrounding peaks.

It is one of the most widely sought-after treks in Himachal Pradesh. Though moderately challenging, the Patalsu Peak trek is ideal for very fit beginners. The route to Patalsu Peak is lined with evergreen forests and eventually morphs into rugged, uneven terrain. It is also not uncommon to spot avian species like Khaleej and morals during the trek. 

Patalsu Peaks trekking trail takes you through a dense forest of pine trees, often painted white after a fresh snowfall. This moderate intensity trek is perfect for someone with prior trekking experience looking for a challenge.

Best time to visit Patalsu Trek

A best time to explore the Patalsu Trek is from April to June and then from September to October. During this period, the weather remains pleasant. Summers are perfect, with a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 10 degrees. It is advisable to avoid at the time of July and August and the initial days of September because of the heavy breakdown of monsoon during this time.

Patalsu Peak Short Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Manali. Drive to Solang and stay.
 Day 2: Solang to Patalsu summit camp (6 km)
 Day 3: Summit Camp to Patalsu Summit - back to Patalsu Summit Camp (6 km)
 Day 4: Summit Camp to Manali via Solang (6 km Trek)
 
 Note: This trek can also be covered in 2 nights as well. On day 3, we can summit the Patalsu Peak and then trek down to Solang making it 12 kms of trekking on the last day as well.

Trekking Cost for Patalsu Peak

On an average any trekking company or tour operator will charge you around Rs 4500 to Rs 8500 per person for the trek from Manali to Manali. The price for the Patalsu Peak depends on the group size, peak season time and services offered like quality of food, quality of camping and trekking gears, experience of guide.

Suggested Patalsu Peak Trekking Itinerary


 Day 1: Arrival in Manali. Drive to Solang Valley (Drive: 13 kms)
 Solang Nalla is the starting point of the Patalsu Summit trek. If you want you calso stay in Manali and enjoy the evening at Mall Road of Manali.
 
 Day 2: Solang to Patalsu summit camp (Trek: 6 kms)
 We will begin the trek in the morning by crossing Beas river. After the river crossing, climb up to reach the Solang village. There is a steep trail to the village through apple orchards and after few hundred meters you will enter the alpine forests comprising of brown oaks, horse chestnut and spruce trees. You will also come across Shagadugh meadow once the forest area ends. Shagadugh is a lush alpine grassland, many trekkers also camp here, but you can trek further to reach summit camp.
 
 Day 3: Base Camp to Patalsu Peak Summit and back to Base Camp (Trek: 6 kms )
 We will try to start early on the summit day. If you want to witness the sunrise from the Patalsu summit, then we have start the trek 2 hours before the sunrise time. During the trek you can see the panoramic view of Kullu, Rohtang, Beas and Solang valley.
 
 The last stretch of the trek rocky and relatively unmarked. From the summit you can see Bhrigu Lake, Mt. Indrasan, Deo Tibba of Dhauladhar, Rohtang, Beas Valley, Shitidhar, Friendship peak, Seven Sisters and Tentu pass. We will trek down after spending some time at the summit and reach the Base Camp.
 
 Day 4: Base Camp - Solang - Manali (Trek: 6 kms, Drive: 13 kms)
After relaxed breakfast, we will trek down to Solang and from there drive to reach Manali. Now whether you can stay in Manali or continue your journey.
