For the first time Uttarakhand is going to event an International Paragliding Competition. This event will be held at Pithoragarh from 14 March 2016 to 19 March 2016. Around 9 countries are participating in this event. This is a joint event of two organisation, one is Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam & other is Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board. 

In this event 30 Paragliding pilots will participate and from all other nine countries many pilots will join this event including Russia, Canada, brazil, Uzbekistan, USA & Great Britain too.

International Paragliding Contest in Uttarakhand

The prize money for the first place will be Rs 2 Lakh and first & second runner up will get 1.25 Lakh & 75 Thousand respectively. The top paragliders of Nepal such as Robin Gurung, Anish Bhattacharya and Bimla Adhikari will also compete for it.

This event will make a new history, because many countries will participate for paragliding. All formalities is almost done, according to the president of Paragliding Association of Uttarakhand the Take-Off and landing place for paragliding has been decided. According to Shankar Singh, the paragliders will take-off from Paboo spot, which is 1900 mt above from sea-level and then will land at a distance of 3 km on Naini Saini flight

Venue : Pithoragarh, Kumaon Uttarakhand Take-off Spot for paragliding : Paboo (1900 mtrs)
