Kartik Swami is a beautiful shrine situated on a trekking distance of 3 km from Kanakchauri village of Rudraprayag district in Uttarakhand. Kartik Swami is the only temple of lord Kartikeya in North India. Lord Karikeya is the elder son of Lord Shiva who dedicated his flesh to his mother Parvati and bones to his father Lord Shiva.

As Kartik Swami is the prominent shrine of this area so every year local dwellers and devotees come from far away places come to celebrate Kartik Swami fair for expressing their faith in the deity. Two grand fairs are held annually at Kartik swami temple. The Katik Purnima which comes in November and the Kalash Yatra which lasts for 11 days in the month of June.
Kartik Swami Fair 2016 :This 11 Day fair will start from June 4, 2016 and will end on June 14, 2016. This fair is also called as 'Jaggi' in the local dialect.

How to Reach
Nearest Railway station is Rishikesh and airport is Jolly Grant from where you can hire local taxis to Kanakchauri village of Rudraprayag. Kartik Swami temple is situated around 3km of walking distance from this village. You can also reach this temple by using public transport. Local buses to Rudraprayag from Dehradun and Rishikesh are available, after reaching Rudraprayag you can get sharable transport like Max and Tata Sumo to Kartik Swami Temple.
