A cultural festival on the the birthday of Narendra Singh NegiLok Samman Samiti will be organising a cultural evening to honour Mr. Narendra Singh Negi who is a versatile folk artist and has brought laurels to Uttarakhand. The festival is being organised by Lok Samman Samiti on the auspicious day of Narendra Singh Negi's birthday to show their gratitude towards him. 

The event will take place on Thursday, 12 August 2015 at Nine Palm, Dehradun. Renowned artists of Garhwali, Kumauni, Jaunsari, Rang and Marcha communities will showcase cultural programmes.

Narendra Singh Negi a versatile folk artist

Narendra Singh Negi is versatile folk artist whose melodious voice is enough to introduce him. The legendary folk singer has touched the hearts of millions of people with his songs. His folk songs are not only famous in Uttarakhand but in other parts of India too. With his singing sensation he has brought forward the harsh reality of people living in villages of Garhwal, the problems faced by them on daily basis, lack of amenities and education. He has been bestowed with various honours and titles but the most prestigious one is that he is ruling the hearts of many people.

The cultural festival will take place on 12 August,2015 on Thursday. The timings are 6 p.m to 9 p.m and the venue is Nine Palm Garden located at Badripur at Jogiwala in Dehradun. You are most invited to attend this cultural programme and be a part of the lovely evening.


The aim behind organizing this event
The prestigious Lok Samman Samiti was formed to honour the people who have worked for conserving the traditions, culture, art form, folk music and dialects of Uttarakhand. The Lok Samman Samiti is set to begin their work on the auspicious day of Narendra Singh Negis birthday.To make this day special the authorities have organized a cultural evening which will take place on 12 August,2015. The cultural programme has been divided in two parts. In the first meeting there will be a debate on the crisis faced by the local dialects of Uttarakhand.

For debating on this crucial matter scholars and learned men of Garhwali, Kumauni and other prominent regional languages of Uttarakhand will present their views. The next programme will be a rainbow coloured cultural evening which will showcase the talent of various folk artists of Uttarakhand. All possible efforts will be made to make the birthday of Negi ji special and memorable.
