Himachal Travel Guidelines for Tourists

Kindly go through the guidelines that are needed to follow in accordance with your booking. Himachal Pradesh Government has opened its borders with certain mandatory guidelines to follow, kindly go through the Travel Booking Guidelines shared below.

Earlier there were no restrictions for tourists visiting different destinations in Himachal, but with increasing Covid cases in the state the Govt has put some restrictions and guidelines for travelling to Himachal.

Latest Update: As of now no restrictions while travelling to Himachal Pradesh, after the outbreak of new Covid Virus - Omicron. Only the rate of testing will be increased in Himachal.

Travel Guidelines for Tourists planning to visit Himachal Pradesh:

  • Online registration now mandatory to enter state
  • Covid Vaccinations Report (both doses) will be required to enter Himachal.
  • If travellers are not vaccinated with both doses then it is mandatory to bring RT-PCR  Covid-negative test report not later than 72 Hours, while entering Himachal Pradesh OR Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) report of 24 hours.
  • Covid-appropriate behaviour is recommended.
  • Tourists must have Arogaya Setu App installed in their mobile phones.
  • Always use mask to protect yourself and others from Covid virus.
  • Maintain social distancing and avoid crowded places.


How and Where to register for travelling to Himachal Pradesh?
All inter-state movement to Himachal Pradesh will be monitored through registration in COVID E-Registration Software. You can register from this website https://covidregistration.hp.gov.in


Terms & Conditions for Himachal Visit

  • Wearing of mask at all times is mandatory. There will be "No Mask No Darshan" Policy for all the visitors Social Distancing shall be maintained during the Visit.
  • Any person producing a fraudulent report shall be penalized under the relevant rules of Law.
  • Any person violating these measures and not following COVID appropriate behaviour will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provision of Section 51-60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides entailing legal action under Section 188 of the IPC, and other legal provisions as applicable.
  • Children Below 18 years of age if accompanied by parents/guardians with vaccination certificate (Double Doses ) or RTPCR/RAT negative reports are exempted .
  • Please carry copy of the documents attached at the time of registration, the same will be verified at the time of entry into State.

New Covid Restrictions and Guidelines in Himachal

  • Himachal State government released an order that all government offices will remain closed on weekends, and will work on weekdays with 50% staff capacity.
  • Government imposed a total ban on langars, community kitchens, and dhaams in the state, along with religious places and places of worship.
  • The government also prohibited the gathering of more than 100 people for indoor and 300 people for outdoor academic, sport, cultural and political events.

Tourists Need to Pay Tax to enter Lahaul Spiti District in Himachal

A barrier to collect tax has been set up at Sissu in Lahaul near Rohtang’s Atal Tunnel by the Special Area Development Authority (SADA). Rupee 50 is being charged from two-wheelers, Rs 200 from cars, Rs 300 from SUVs and MUVs and Rs 500 from buses and trucks.

Online registration now mandatory to Himachal

All inter-state movement to the state will be monitored through registration on COVID e-registration software of the Himachal government. The government has exempted certain categories of people from the provisions of this order. They include daily or weekend commuters such as industrialists, traders, suppliers, factory workers, project proponents, service providers, government officials and people visiting the state on medical grounds.

Children below 18 years of age, if accompanied by parents or guardians with vaccination certificate for both doses or negative RTPCR/RAT reports too are exempted from e-registration.

Similarly, all goods carriers, whether loaded or unloaded and movement of goods or cargo for inland and exports are also exempted from any type of Covid restriction while entering or exiting the state of Himachal Pradesh.

Himachal Pradesh government imposes travel restrictions for tourists from 13 Aug

It is now mandatory for tourists coming to Himachal to carry RT-PCR negative reports of a minimum of 72 hours, Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) report of 24 hours or Vaccination Certificate with both doses. However, the residents of the state have been exempted from these travel restrictions.

Inter-state, Inter-district and Intra-district Movement of Public transport buses are now allowed to operate with 50 per cent of the registered seating capacity with effect from August 13, 2021.

For the inter-State public transport buses, Transport Department shall frame mechanism for checking of RTPCR/RAT/ Vaccine certificate, so that only eligible passengers will board the buses.

Major Landslide occurred in Kinnaur region of Himachal

A landslide reported on Reckong Peo- Shimla Highway in #Kinnaur District in Himachal Pradesh today at around 12.45 Hrs. One truck, a HRTC Bus and few vehicles reported came under the rubble. Many people reported trapped. ITBP teams rushed for rescue.
