Churdhar Peak Location
Churdhar Peak is located in Churdhar Sanctuary, which is part of both Shimla and Sirmaur District. This peak is visible from Shimla, Kasauli, Solan & Kufri and retains a streak of snow on its upper ridge throughout the year.
How to reach Churdhar Peak
Churdhar is accessible from three routes, Chopal, Nohradhar and Haripurdhar stations. The shortest and most popular one is from Nauradhar in Sirmour district. Passing through small villages, cultivated fields and alpine meadows the trek is moderately difficult but rewarding.
By Road (2 routes):
Via Nohradhar (recommended): It is closer if you are coming from Chandigarh, Delhi NCR or other parts of India. From Chandigarh take the Kalka–Shimla highway and reach Solan. Buses are easily available from Sector 43-ISBT at Chandigarh. Get off as you reach Solan Bypass road. Walk from here to D.C. office, Solan (1 km) or hire an auto rickshaw. From there, take a bus to Rajgarh. From Rajgarh, board a direct bus to Nohradhar. Or you can simply drive or take a taxi to reach Nohradhar. You can take bus till Solan and from there you can taxi to reach Nohradhar.
Via Chopal: There are buses and taxis available at Chopal to reach Sarain, the starting point of the Churdhar trek. If you are coming from Delhi, hit the national highway 1 (NH1) to reach Ambala, and from there take the NH 22 to reach Shimla. Follow NH 22 that goes to Kinnaur from Shimla via Sanjauli and Dhali up to Theog. Reaching Theog, hit the state road that leads you to Chopal via Sainj, Deha, and Khirki. And, from Chopal, you need to follow the way that is going to Nerwa, and then follow the link road to Sarain after nearly 7 km.
Nearest Airport: Jubbarhatti airport (23 km from Shimla). However you can prefer Chandigarh or Dehradun Airport as there are limited flights to Shimla. Taxis/buses are available for Nohradhar at all places. There is a helipad in Nohradhar as well.
Nearest railhead: Shimla to Kalka narrow-gauge railway line. The nearest railhead is at Solan.
