Kalpa is a small village in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur District. Kalpa, located at an elevation of 2758 metres above sea level, was previously the Kinnaur region's headquarters.

However, it was eventually supplanted by the city of Reckong Peo. The beautiful Sutlej river can be seen flowing down the Great Himalayas and passing through the rocky surface of Kinnaur.

According to records, the region of Kalpa was ruled by the Magadha Dynasty in the sixth century, followed by the Mauryan Empire. Kinnaur was also ruled by the Tibetan Guge Kingdom between the 9th and 12th centuries. King Akbar later subjugated the region and incorporated it into the Mughal Empire.
