Bir Billing Location
Bir and Billing are two distinct villages located in Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. These twin villages are surrounded by majestic Dhauladhar Range and commonly referred to as Bir-Billing. Paragliders or tourists come to Bir and then go the Billing, which is around 15 kms from Bir for take off.
How to reach Bir and Billing
By Flight: One of the airports closest to Bir is Gaggal Airport, which is about 68 kilometers away. You can take a taxi or a government-operated bus from the airport's entrance. However, since Gaggal Airport does not have a direct flight, you can book a flight to New Delhi or Chandigarh Airport and continue your journey by bus.
By Train: The closest railway station to Bir is Ahju Station, which is just 3 kilometers away but is on a narrow-gauge line. Pathankot Railway Station is the Broad Gauge train station closest to Bir, which is about 142 kilometers away. To get to Bir, you can easily book a taxi from the train station once you reach Pathankot. It will take you about two to three hours to reach Bir, but the beautiful scenery along the way is worth it.
By Road: The final one, which is my favorite, is by bus. As previously stated, there is no direct rail or air connection to Bir. If you fly to Gaggal, you'll need to travel 68 km, and if you take the train to Pathankot, you'll need to travel 142 km. There aren't many trains or airplanes on this route. Therefore, it is preferable to travel by bus once you reach New Delhi and board a comfortable Volvo (sleeper/semi-sleeper) with air conditioning. When you get to Kangra, the road trip to Bir becomes the most appealing. Tea gardens and stunning mountains covered in snow can be found along the Kangra route. a thick pine forest and brightly colored gliders above you.
Bus Services: Bir has direct buses from Major Cities like Delhi, Chandigarh. HRTC Volvos as well as private Volvos ply on the route. Other major Bus stations nearby are Kangra & Baijnath, you can get a bus to any one of these places easily.
