He named it Sonapani Estate and then lived here happily thereafter, farming and hunting.

He named it Sonapani Estate and then lived here happily thereafter, farming and hunting. The house is now a heritage property which is a 100 years old stone structure, now serves as the office and staff quarters for Himalayan Village Resort.
Sonapani is an old natural spring and the water from this natural spring is perceived to have medicinal properties. With its medicinal qualities the water here is considered to be Sona, thus giving the place sonapani as name.There are twelve cottages in Himalayan Village Sonapani, connected by stone pathways and separated by vegetable gardens & flower beds, thus creating a village like feel.
Cottages: These spacious cottages are built using compressed earth blocks, a blend of british, kumaoni and modern architecture, the cottages have tinned roofs, mud-plastered interiors and modern attached bathrooms, thus creating a unique ambience of comfort and tradition.
Each room has a double bed, two chairs, table and a dressing area - all made of pine wood. with the window opening towards the himalayan peaks, one can view the snow clad ranges even from the cozy comforts of the bed. the main peaks visible from here are trishul, nandadevi, maiktoli, nandakot and panchchuli. a massive 175 degree view on a clear day will definitely linger in your memory for days to come.
Note: There no phones in the rooms, no television to distract.
The kitchen at Himlayan Village Resort is geared to serve indian, mughlai and chinese cuisine which is cooked in less oil and is more of a home cooked variety. The dinning hall boasts of ample space and ventilation.

Sonapani is located in district Nainital (Uttarakhand) and is very close to Almora. Himalayan Village Sonapani is just 8 Kms from the the nearest and well known hill station Mukteshwar.
There are two options for reaching Himalayan Village Sonapani.
First option: is to take a train to kathgodam, the railhead of this region. the train running between kathgodam and delhi is called ranikhet express.
Second option: is to reach kathgodam by road. from Delhi, Kathgodam is approximately 275 kms. to reach Kathgodam, one has to go via Hapur, Moradabad, Rampur, Bilaspur, Rudrapur and Haldwani.
From Kathgodam one has to cover 69 kms, driving through Bhimtal, Bhowali, Ramgarh and Nathuakhan to reach village Satoli. At village satoli the vehicles are parked and walk for about half an hour through the village road flanked by orchards, fields and village houses.Himalayan Village Sonapani
