The trek starts from Malla Village located 28 km from Uttarkashi. The 16 km trek is moderately easy and suitable for anyone looking for adventure, peace, and solitude in nature. You can undertake the trek with your friends and family.
The trek to Kush Kalyan starts from Malla Village in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. There are two routes that you can choose for descending from Kush Kalyan valley. One goes through Belak Village and the other goes through Pinswar Village.
Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Bhatwari / Malla Village
Day 2: Trek to Gairi
Day 3: Trek to Kush Kalyan
Day 4: Kush Kalyan – Kyarki Bugyal Exploration
Day 5: Trek down to Malla

Malla lies 27 km ahead from Uttarkashi and it will take around 1 hr to reach Malla from Uttarkashi. The auspicious Bhagirathi River flows calmly through the village.
Note: You can easily reach Sanam Chatti from Uttarkashi by taking a shared cab/taxi. Make sure you buy any essential in Uttarkashi. Check out how to reach Uttarkashi.
Malla serves as the base camp for Kush Kalyan Trek. From Malla, you will start your trek towards Sila Village and Gairi Camp after crossing a bridge above the Bhagirathi River. The trail goes through the picturesque Sila Village located at an elevation of 2000 mts.
Gairi Camp lies ahead of the village and is encompassed with dense forests and snow-clad mountains. On your way, you’ll come across cattle grazers, small huts, and beautiful wild flora and fauna.
After a healthy breakfast, you will start your trek towards the stunning meadows of Kush Kalyan. The enthralling walk through the forests, colourful meadows, and small streams with the snow-capped peaks set beautifully at the background is the highlight of this trek. The campsite of Kush Kalyan offers a heavenly scene which is enough to soak all the tiredness of the trek.
If you have experience in high altitude trekking and have an extra 2-3 days to spare, then you can trek further to Kyarki Khal (4,000 m), Lamb Tal (4,268 m), and Sahastra Tal (5,000 m).
From Kush Kalyan, there are two routes one goes through the Lata Village and the another one goes thorugh the Pinswar Village. Our trek guide will decide the routes according to the suitability.
Route 1: Located at an elevation of 2,972 m, Belak Village is a small hamlet where you can interact with the warm villagers and enjoy a relaxing stay. The trail to Belak Village goes through high ridges and picturesque meadows. From Belak, a small trek of 4-5 km will take you to Lata.
Route 2: The trail from Kush Kalyan goes through conifer forests and takes you to the beautiful Pinswar Village characterized by the terraced fields, lush greenery, and pleasant climate.
