Uttarakhand State Govt. decided to set up a state-of-the-art Medical College in Haldwani under the auspices of the Uttarakhand Forest Hospital Trust, Haldwani. The college named as Government Medical College is located at the foothill of Nainital in the city of Haldwani
Government Medical College, Haldwani is the First Post Graduate college in Uttarakhand, recognised by Medical Council of India & Government of India. The Medical college houses the departments (Pre & Para Clinical) of Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic Medicine, Social & Preventive Medicine and Biochemistry and the laboratories for under graduate students are on par with International standards.
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Government of India vide Notification No U12012/77/2001 - ME - (P-II) dated February 18, 2010 has recognised the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, MBBS Degree granted by Kumaon University after May 2009 in respect of students trained at Medical College, Haldwani (Nainital), Uttarakhand.

Eligibility for Admissions
The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination of a recognized Indian Univ. / board with at least 50% marks in English and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together. The candidate should also have qualified UPMT or other state government PMT/CPMT Exam with a minimum of 50% marks. For CBSE-AIPMT candidates should have qualified in merit/waitlist.
