Borasu Pass Expedition with Har Ki Doon Valley

Day 1
Arrive in Sankri

Arrive in Sankri by evening, meet trek leader. Stay in Sankri Village hotel or Guest house.

Note: Sankri is 185 Kms away from Dehradun. You can get a shared taxi or public transport for Sankri early in the morning from Dehradun bus stand. It will take 7-9 hours for you to reach Sankri from Dehradun.

Day 2
Sankri - Taluka Seema/Poani Gharat

Early morning drive from Sankri to Taluka in a Taxi. Taluka is the starting point of our trek. After Breakfast in Taluka, we will Start trekking with packed lunch to Seema (2260m)on an even surface through thick forests of chestnuts, walnuts, willows, chinars and a variety of conifer trees, with a few waterfalls on the way. Reach Seema Camps by late afternoon. Overnight stay in tents either at Seema or Poani Gharat.

Day 3
Poani Gharat / Seema – Seematra

The trail from Seema initially continues on the true left of the valley, goes past fields followed by crossing a hanging bridge over river Rupin, to the true right of the valley. The trail now ascends, go past through fields and pastures with huts. The coniferous flora on the opposite side of the valley is awesome and much adorable.

The trail climbs to the ridge locally named as Kalkatti Dhar, we will camp at Seematra which is couple of kms from here.

Day 4
Seematra – Har ki Dun – Maninda Tal

We will start early after breakfast from Seematra, The trail traverses to give you an awesome view of Har Ki Dun after couple of kilometers. From here initially, the trail climbs gradually and later gets steep in times go past through beautiful meadows to the campsite at Har Ki Dun. The campsite is by the small stream, with peaks of Har Ki Dun and Swargarohini Peak towering above. Enjoy your packed lunch at Har ki Dun.

After lunch we will cross the wooden bridge near Har ki Dun Forest Rest House and take the mud trail towards right leading to a lush green valley. Hata peak (just behind forest rest house ) and Swargarohini Peak are prominently seen from here. Continue on the trail which then passes through huge boulders. When the tree line ends, you see a huge valley with a stream coming from Marinda Tal. Walk up the Tal and camp by its side. Soak in the views of marvelous snow-capped peaks and lush green meadows.

Day 5
Maninda Tal – Sauni Bhera

Borasu Pass Base Camp – Borasu Pass – Bonga Camp

Today we cross the Borasu pass. Since the trek will be hard, we will start early in the morning to have the advantage of the time at hand. In the morning the peaks turn golden as the first rays of sun fall on them. Borasu glacier and Saunbhera campsite can be seen down below. Start walking on the gradual snow slope in the direction of the pass. We trek about 8 km to reach the pass. The final ascent to the pass is boulder and scree strewn. After crossing we descend to the other side. Camp overnight at Bonga Campsite.

Day 8
Bonga Camp - Chitkul

The trek is easy through the valley and views today will keep your cameras busy. After a week of living in wilderness today we will see the civilization . Today’s trek is of 14 kms which takes about 8-9 hrs. This is one of the best walks of this trek. Walk is under the shade with gentle gradient. Overnight in Chitkul Village. Trek ends here. You may plan your return for the next day.

Day 9
Departure from Chitkul

Morning breakfast and departure from Chitkul. Our Borasu Pass trek services will end at Chitkul.

  • Behaviour that can cause danger, annoyance to others or interfering with the procedure may lead to termination of your participation from the trip, with no right to refund. We expect you to be a responsible trekker.
  • We provide basic amenities in the wilderness of Himalayas, please don’t expect any luxury treatment.
  • Trekking in Himalayas requires a degree of personal risk. You are likely to visit places where you’ll be facing certain risks, dangers and physical challenges.
