Bekal Tal - Brahmatal Premium Trekking Tour
Bhekal Tal - Brahmatal (which means a lake belongs to Lord Brahma) are the high altitude natural lakes in Dewal block of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand, also a famous winter trek among trekkers. Bhekal tal is situated 8 km of the expedition from the base camp Lohajung.
During winter, both the Tal (lake) will be frozen with the hard layer of ice. Bhekaltal’s water flows both direction towards Mundoli & Ratgaon, the source of water of this lake is still unknown, it is in between dense forest of various kinds of tree & Brahmatal is in an open meadow. The distance between both the lakes is 7 kms.
The trek from Lohajung to Bhekal tal passes through dense forest & Bhekal Tal to Brahmatal route passes through open meadows, which offers to behold views of Himalayan range peaks (Trishul, Nandaghunti) & both side valley with villages like Wan, Didina, Ratgaon, Bursol, Dungari etc. This trek accessible around the year, in winter view of the white layer around the valley & another season lush green meadows & forest makes this trek very unique and special.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1Kathgodam/Rishikesh - Lohajung
We will receive you early morning from Kathgodam Railway Station, Today we start our journey from Kathgodam till Lohajung (7700 ft.), all motorable, breakfast & lunch will be served on the way. This day you will see the glimpse of Uttarakhand (Kumaoun & Garhwal), you will pass through many hill stations of Kumaon region, villages, rivers & winding roads.
Total travel distance is 226 km from Kathgodam if you are travel from Rishikesh route then it will 263kms which takes 9-10 hours to reach. Night stay will be in Guesthouse in Lohajung which is a beautiful hamlet and the base camp for your trek.
Day 2Lohajung - Bhekal Tal
We will pass through the local villages and farms. We will walk through a path between the tall oak trees on both sides to reach Bekal Tal. Our trail will take us to the Kail Valley, in this valley the Kail and Pindari river unite. Night stay near Bhekal Tal.
Day 3Bhekal Tal - Brahmatal
We will start at around 8 am and we will pass through oak forests to reach beautiful meadows, which could be covered by snow if there was a recent snow fall. We will be able to view the magnificent snow covered Himalayas peak after we come out of the forest area. We continue walking to reach the beautiful silver or sometime glass coloured Brahma Tal lake.
Day 4Brahmatal – Daldum
Day 4 will bring you back on the trek route to Brahmatal. After walking for an hour, the route will take you to Chota Jhandidar. Then comes the Bada Jhandidar. The route surpassing both of these destinations has breathtaking valleys on its sides.
You will be pleased by the sight of the mighty Mt. Nandaghunti and Trishul on your route. After walking for another few hours (2.5 to 3 hours), you will be at Brahmatal Lake. From the peak of Brahmatal, your camp site (Daldum) is around 3 hours away. Route to the campsite passes through forests. Overnight stay at camps.
Day 5Daldum to Lohajung
After relaxing the whole night, leave the camp site for your return journey to Lohajung (3.7 Km, 2.5 hours away). As you will done with half an hour walking, you will reach Malling. There would be few houses on the slopes. Follow the stone trails and you will reach Lohajung. Overnight stay at guest house in Lohajung.
Day 6Lohajung to Rishikesh/Haridwar or Kathgodam
Post breakfast, guests would be driven to Lohajung . From there drive to Rishikesh/Haridwar or Kathgodam (as per itinerary fixed or as per our fixed departure group). Our trek services will end here.
