The climate is relatively dry, with snow locally in January–February. The monsoon period is June to August. The autumn is regarded the best period to visit. In August there is a festival at the Gosainkunda lake, with thousands of Hindu pilgrims.
In September there is a spectacular display of flowers. Yak and Chauri herds, which ascended to avoid the summer heat, return to lower pastures. In peak winter, trails are blocked and the lodges are closed. In spring the rhododendrons flourish.
The Langtang region has different weather conditions in the varying seasons of Autumn, Spring, Monsoon, and Winter. But, the best time for this trek is the Autumn and Spring season. Each season has different views and experiences to offer.
It is best to visit the park in September, October and November, after the monsoons have ended and before winter sets in. The sky is clear and the leaves are colourful, providing a photogenic background.
March to May is also a good time to visit as the wildflowers and rhododendrons are blooming. The skies are generally clear, and the views of the Himalayas are stunning.
