The ICFAI University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand was established under the ICFAI University Act 2003 (Act No.16 of 2003) passed by the Uttaranchal Legislative Assembly and assented to by the Governor on July 08,2003. The ICFAI University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand is sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (Icfai), a non-profit educational society established in 1984 under the Andhra Pradesh (Telangana Area) Public Societies Registration Act, 1350 F (Act No.1 of 1350F), with the objective of imparting training in finance and management to students, working executives and professionals in India. ICFAI University is also known as IU Dehradun.

The ICFAI University believes in creating and disseminating knowledge and skills in core and frontier areas through innovative educational programs, research, consulting and publishing, and developing a new cadre of professionals with a high level of competence and deep sense of ethics and commitment to the code of professional conduct. A number of educational programs are offered in management, finance, banking, insurance, accounting, law, information technology, arts, commerce, education and science & technology at bachelor’s and master’s levels on full-time campus and distance learning formats.

The ICFAI University also allows private candidates to enroll in various programs if they satisfy the eligibility criteria. The University does not provide any courseware, nor conduct any contact classes, nor offer any other support services to private candidates. Such candidates have to prepare for the programs on their own as per the curriculum and are required to attend the examinations, as per the rules and regulations of the University. The University has no study centers/branches outside the State of Uttarakhand.

Affiliation and Approval of ICFAI University

The ICFAI University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand is included in the list of universities maintained by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, vide their letter No. F.9-26/2003 (CPP-I) dated July 22, 2005. The Distance Education Council (DEC) has approved the programs of the ICFAI University, Dehradun. The Bar Council of India has accorded its approval for imparting three year and five year Law Courses at ICFAI University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand and award degrees in law

The ICFAI University has received the approval of NCTE to offer the Bachelors Program in Education through the Faculty of Education. The ICFAI University, Uttarakhand is included in the list of approved institutions maintained by NCTE.

Distance Learning Programme in ICFAI University

Recognition of Directorate of Distance Education, The ICFAI University, Dehradun, by the Distance Education Council. The expert committee comprising nominees of UGC, AICTE and DEC visited the University, and the Distance Education Council and Tripartite Committee accorded recognition of the programs offered through Distance Education mode for a period of Three Academic years w.e.f 2011-12 Vide letter No.DEC/ICFAI-DDN/UT/2011/6774 dated 24-08-2011.

Master of Business Administration
The Master of Business Administration program is designed to provide both a portfolio of strong functional skills and the ability to apply, adapt and integrate those skills in different management settings.

Eligibility: Graduation (any discipline) with 45% and above aggregate marks.
Duration: Minimum: 5 semesters, Maximum : 5 years
Award of Degree: On successful completion of all the modules, the students wil be awarded the "Master of Business Administration" (MBA) degree.
