Location of Tapovan
Tapovan is located in Gangotri Glacier beyond Gaumukh in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The famous shrine Gangotri is situated on the way of famous Gangotri-Tapovan-Vasuki Tal trek.
How to Reach Tapovan:
By Road: Gangotri is the nearest road head to Tapovan from where it is situated at a trekking distance of 20 km. Taxis and daily buses from major cities of Uttarakhand like Rishikesh, Haridwar and Dehradun are available to Uttarkashi city. From Uttarkashi, you can hire a taxi or travel by local bus up to Gangotri.
By Rail: Nearest railhead is located at Dehradun. The road distance between Gangotri and Dehradun is 240 km. Taxis and local buses to Gangotri are easily available from Dehradun.
By Air: The Jolly Grant Airport at 266 km from Gangotri is the closest airport. Taxi service is easily available from here.
