Perched at a height of 13,000 feet at the base of the Sona Shikhar peak, Chenap Valley offers mesmerizing views of the slow clad peaks of Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot and Dronagiri with oak-deodar forests and meadows in the foreground.

Chenap Valley and Meadows share resemblance to The Valley of flowers trek, but still unexplored and less visited trek. So if like to explore new trails then Chenap valley will not disappoint you. Chenap valley is located about 28 kms from Joshimath town.

Suggested Chenap Valley trek Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi – Rishikesh (230 km/ 6 hours approx)
The trek starts with a morning drive from Delhi to Rishikesh via Haridwar. Check into the hotel. One can indulge in local sightseeing if time allows. The famed Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat is a must-see.

Day 2: Rishikesh – Joshimath (240 km/ 9 hours approx)
After having breakfast, we leave for Joshimath via Devprayag, where the holy confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda River give rise to the mighty Ganges. At dusk, we will reach Joshimath. Dinner and overnight stay will be at one of the Joshimath hotels.

Day 3: Joshimath - Vishnu Prayag (10 km by road) - Thaing Village (8 km trek)
Post breakfast we drive to Vishnu Prayag and after crossing the bridge at Vishnuprayag, start our 8km trek to Thaing Village.

Day 4: Thaing Village - Dhar Kharak (6 kms)
After having breakfast we start our trek towards Dhar Kharak or Baidwa Kahrak which will take us through the lush green forests and brooks. Lunch will be served on the way.

Day 5: Dhar Kharak - Chenap Meadow (4 km)
Today we start out trek from Dhar Kharak and end it at Chenap meadow. Lose yourself amidst 500 types of flowers. Overnight stay will be at the camp.

Day 6: Chenap Valley
Today is the day reserved for exploring the beautiful meadow. Go exploring. Overnight stay will be at camp.

Day 7: Chenap Valley – Thaing Village
After having breakfast, we trek down to Thaing village. Overnight stay will be in tents.

Day 8: Thaing Village - Vishnu Prayag - Joshimath - Srinagar (160km/5-6 hours)
We wake up early and after having breakfast, trek down to Vishnu Prayag and from there drive to Srinagar via Joshimath. Dinner and overnight stay will be in hotel in Srinagar.

Day 9: Srinagar – Rishikesh – Haridwar – Delhi
Post breakfast we drive to Delhi via Haridwar. By evening you will reach Delhi. Tour ends here.

How to reach Chenap Valley

Chenap Valley is located 28 kms from Joshimath. Joshimath, in turn, is at a distance of 396 kms from Delhi. Once you reach Joshimath, you can trek to Chenap Valley. There are various modes of transportations that are available to reach Joshimath:

  • By Road:Joshimath is well connected with major Uttarakhand cities via motorable roads. There are various bus services available from Delhi to Rishikesh, Haridwar and Srinagar from Kashmere Gate ISBT.One can opt for semi-deluxe, deluxe and AC Volvo as per their needs. Taxis and local buses are readily available from all major cities of Uttarakhand like Haridwar, Karnaprayag, Pauri, Ukhimath, Srinagar etc.
  • By Rail: The nearest rail head is Haridwar, which is 299 km from Joshimath. There are numerous trains connecting Haridwar junction with other major cities like Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata etc. The frequency of trains to Haridwar is quite high as it is one of the most revered and religious place in India.
  • By Air: The nearest airport is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun which is approximately 20 kilometres from Rishikesh and 285 kms from Joshimath, and offers daily connectivity with New Delhi.
