The challenge of the turbulent rivers is no less than that of the rugged mountains. The icy heights of the Himalayas are the source of some of India's mighty rivers, fed by innumerable streams they race along tortuous boulder-strewn beds, cutting deep gorges and breaking into silvery white rapids.
Sacred river Ganga in Garhwal region offers professionals as well as amateurs, the exhilaration of white water rafting. Alakananda & Bhagirathi are the main tributaries of the Ganga and meet at Devprayag, frothing from their racy descent. Their waters are of grades 4 to 5, challenging the expert to savor the thrill.
Downriver from Devprayag, the Ganga changes into a pool drop river. This stretch of almost 70 kms is perfect for the amateurs, as here the river offers some fine grade 3 rapids and two grade 4 rapids, the 'Wall' at Byasi and the 'GOLF COURSE', 4km below Shivpuri village; each followed by deep & placid pools.

GMVN Terms & Conditions for Rafting Course
Participants must be physically fit for rafting courses.
- Students up to the age of 18 years are required to submit a certificate of date of birth as well as a bona fide students certificate from school/institution along with the application form failing which he/she may be charged the full fee.
- In case of students, no participants will be admitted without producing the above documents and confirmation letter issued by Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam Ltd..
- Participants are requested to send the duly filled application form, along with 50% of fees (Non-refundable) in advance by bank draft drawn in favor of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam Ltd., payable at Dehradun or at respective Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam Ltd. Public Relations Offices.
- However, 10% of the advance deposited shall be deducted while making a refund if a course is canceled.
- The balance of 50% amount of the fees will have to be deposited by cash at the time of joining the course at the Kaudiyala Rafting camp.
- Separate sharing accommodation will be provided to female participants.
- Participants are advised to report at Kaudiyala in the evening one day prior to the commencement of the course.
- Transportation during the rafting course will be provided by the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam Ltd.
- In case of accidental damage or loss of Rafting equipments the full cost of equipment and an additional penalty shall be charged from the concerned individual on the spot.
Note: Minimum age limit for undertaking rafting activities should be above 14 years of age & participants must be physically fit. Fee includes boarding, lodging (sharing accommodation) Rafting equipments and training charges.
