Pantnagar is an industrial town situated in the Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand state. The town is famous for two reasons. Firstly, the first agricultural university of India was established here in year 1960. Secondly, it houses the Pantnagar Airport of Kumaon region. Previously known as Uttar Pradesh Agricultural University, or Pantnagar University, is now named as Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (GBPUAT).

Pantnagar has successfully emerged as an industrial estate in the Kumaon region after SIDCUL established their first Integrated Industrial Estate (IIE) at this site. Various renowned companies like Tata, Bajaj, Nestle, Britannia and Dabur have shown their keen interest in Pantnagar by building there industries here.

Pantnagar Airport is a domestic Airport which is operated by Airport Authority of India. Pantnagar Airport is the nearest Airport to the hills of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state. It is connected by Delhi with daily flights. The major places in the proximity of Pantnagar are Nainital, Corbett National Park, Rudrapur and Haldwani.

Pantnagar has become a popular in recent years and several industrialists have come here to develop their industries. Pantnagar is the industrial hub of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state. The weather of Pantnagar is same as any other city of the plains.
