About Budha Kedar

Budha Kedar is a holy place dedicated to Lord Shiva in Tehri Garhwal of Uttarakhand state. There is a Shivling in this place which is said to be the biggest Shivling in North India. It is situated at the confluence of Bal Ganga and Dharam Ganga.

Budha Kedar is surrounded by steep hills covered with lush green deodar forests. Dotted with numerous huts and terraced fields for cultivation amidst mountainous Garhwal Himalayas, Buda Kedar gives an opportunity to the visitor a glimpse into the lives of hill folk. Budha Kedar in Tehri

Budha Kedar is a place where Lord Shiva gave darshans to the Pandavas as old man. After the epic war of Mahabharata, when the Pandavas went on a lookout for Lord Shiva to get rid of their sins. They saw Rishi Balkhily at Bhrigu Parvat. Rishi told them to visit the confluence of the two rivers to meet an old man who was meditating there.

When the Pandavas reached there the old man vanished and a huge Shivling appeared. The sage told them to embrace the Shivling in order to free themselves from their sins committed.
