Kanakata Pass Trek - The Beautiful high altitude trek

Suggested Itinerary for Kanakata Pass Trek

Day 01: Delhi - Haldwani
Travel to Haldwani from Delhi. Dinner & Overnight stay at Haldwani.

Day 02­: Haldwani to Bageshwar
Travel to Bageshwar from Haldwani. Dinner and Overnight stay at Bageshwar.

Day 03: Bageshwar to Karkiya road (4 Km Trek).
Your trek starts from Bageshwar, On this day you have to trek 4 km from Bageshwar to Karkiya. Dinner and overnight stay at Karkiya.

Day 04: Karkiya to Jatoli (7 Km Trek).
Trek Karkiya to Jatoli. Overnight stay & dinner at Jatoli.

Day 05: Jatoli to Khatliya (15 Km Trek).
On this day you have to trek for 15 km from Jatoli to Khatliya. Dinner & Overnight stay at Khatliya.

Day 06: Khatliya to Baloni top (5 Km Trek, Climb 70 Degree).
After breakfast, trek Khatliya to Baloni top. Overnight stay at Baloni Top.

Day 07: Baloni Top to Devikund (5 Km Trek).
On this morning after having a lavish breakfast, trek to Devikund from Baloni top.

Day 08: Devikund to Bhanar.
Have your breakfast in the morning and ready to trek from Devikund to Bhanar.

Day 09: Kanakata pass to Patharkani.
Trek from Bhanar to Kanakata Pass & Patharkani.

Day 10: Patharkani to Jatoli (15 Km Trek).
This morning you have to trek for 15 km from Patharkani to Jatoli.

Day 11: Jatoli to Dhakuri (15 Km Trek).
Trek from Jatoli to Dhakuri, Dinner & Overnight stay at Dhakuri.

Day 12: Dakuri to Bageshwar.
Return back to Bageshwar from Dakuri. Overnight stay and dinner at Bageshwar.

Day 13: Bageshwar to Delhi.
Departure from Bageshwar. Travel back to Delhi from Bageshwar.

Kanakata Pass Trek Travel Tips

  • Train yourself prior to participating in the trek. You can train by walking, jogging, swimming, and biking.
  • Visit your doctor and let him know about your high-altitude trekking.
  • Let someone in your family or friends know that you are going on this trek and explain to them when you will begin and end the trek. 
  • You shouldn’t hike alone and instead, travel in a group of two or more. 
  • If possible, arrive a day or two before you begin your hike to acclimatize yourself to the high-altitude climate and weather conditions.

There are no accommodations available at higher altitudes. Tents are the only suitable accommodation. Trekkers are required to carry their own sleeping bags and tents which can be erected at any level ground there. 

It is impossible to find any eating joint at an elevation of 4,530 mts. Trekkers can take the food supplies with themselves at the start of the trek. Packaged food as well as vegetables can be taken with and a cook would be able to prepare fresh meal for the party. 

Things to Carry during Kanakata Pass Trek

  • Backpack of 60 ltr -70 ltr. They should come with comfortable shoulder straps, frame, and backpack cover.
  • Waterproof trekking shoes that are high ankle and have a good grip
  • 2 synthetic /waterproof Track Pants, T-shirts - 3 full sleeve
  • 1 Fleece jacket would be ideal; a woollen sweater would be an alternative
  • 1 Wind proof jacket, 1 Heavy jacket, Thermal Inners, woollen caps
  • 2 pairs cotton socks, 2 pairs woollen socks, 2 pair water proof hand gloves
  • Sun Cap, Sun protection cream, Sun glasses Dark with side cover, it should be U/V protected
  • 2 Water bottle- one litre each
  • Lip Balm/ cold cream
  • Toilet kit/ toilet Paper / wipes
  • Quick-dry Towel, Personal Medical Kit
  • Walking Stick Mandatory (At least one)
