Narendra Modi Adi Kailash Visit

On 12 October 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the first sitting Prime Minister of India to visit Adi Kailash in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district. During the visit, he offered prayers at Parvati Sarovar and the nearby Shiva Temple, highlighting the religious and cultural importance of the Adi Kailash pilgrimage in the Kumaon Himalayas.

The Prime Minister reached the Adi Kailash region by helicopter as part of his official visit to Pithoragarh district. Narendra Modi Pilgrimage Tour to Adi Kailash

Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed at the Jeolingkong Helipad before proceeding to Parvati Sarovar, where he offered prayers at the Shiva Temple. Wearing traditional attire of the Rung community, he participated in local rituals and sought blessings at one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in the Kumaon Himalayas.

The visit brought national attention to Adi Kailash and the border villages of Pithoragarh district. It also highlighted the region's improving road connectivity, tourism potential and the cultural heritage of the Rung community, encouraging more pilgrims and tourists to explore this remote Himalayan destination.
