Skiing Festival in Auli
Auli carnival is one of the festivals which are undertaken by state tourism ministry to both attract tourists and bring Uttarakhand as a favorite tourist destination even in winter also. Every year it attracts thousands of enthusiasts from late December to late March. Situated at the altitude of 2896-3200 meters from sea level has a 5 - 7 km area for skiing.

Past Skiing Festival/Events in Auli
Last year during winters when Auli is fully covered in snow the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam, Winter Games Association and Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council organized Winter Ski Carnival and Open Championship. The carnival would boost tourism in Auli and nearby places.
The event was marked by a skiing demonstration by the team of ITBP afterward which the skiing championship was conducted for people in different age groups preceded by snowboarding competition and prize distribution.
The visitors could reach Joshimath by road and from there they could reach Auli which is 16 kilometers from Joshimath, through Asia’s major ropeway. Skiing competitions are held in three places in India –Manali (Himachal Pradesh), Gulmarg (Jammu & Kashmir) and in Auli (Uttarakhand). Events are being organized every year to encourage adventure sports in the state.
