Weather to Remain Unsettled in Uttarakhand Till January 31

The India Meteorological Department has forecast unsettled weather across Uttarakhand till January 31.

Light rain or snowfall is likely on January 29 and 30 at places located above 2,800 metres in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh districts. Similar conditions are expected on January 31 in high-altitude areas of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh.

The department has issued a weather warning for both hill and plain regions, cautioning that over the next 24–48 hours, several districts may witness heavy rain or snowfall, lightning, hailstorms, and strong winds.

Snowfall in Uttarakhand Hills, Cold Wave and Dense Fog Continue in Plains

Fresh snowfall has been reported in Hemkund Sahib and Badrinath Dham in Chamoli district, while light snowfall was also recorded in Pithoragarh. The Meteorological Department has forecast light rain and snowfall in high-altitude areas of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh on 18 January, especially above 3,400 metres.

Dense fog is expected over the next three days in parts of Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Champawat, Pauri, and Dehradun, with cold wave conditions continuing in the plains. In several high-altitude regions, frozen water pipelines have forced residents to melt snow for drinking water. Weather conditions are expected to improve by February.
